Our Story Together
Newbiggin by the Sea has a long history and is a well established close knit community for which people feel an enormous degree of affection. There are many established families with members who have lived here all their days or who have returned to settle in Newbiggin by the Sea in later years.
St Bartholomew's Church has been at the very heart of this community for centuries and we hope will continue to be for centuries to come.
In this section we provided a potted history of the the church of St Bartholomew's and some of its main and important features especially our East window and Medieval Cross slabs. If you have not had a chance to visit the church yet we very much hope that you do soon and look forward to welcoming you.
We have a Book of Remembrance if you would to have the names of departed loved ones recorded and remembered here.
Please keep in touch with the current news and events in the town by reading our Church and Community magazine called The Point. You can see the latest edition here and read past editions too. This magazine is freely available throughout the town. It has details from the registers of the Churches in the town.
We are currently exploring the possibility of setting up a Friends of St Bartholomew's as a way of continuing to support the continuing presence of the church building in this landmark location.
