CEILIDH: To be held in Newbiggin Sports Centre on Friday August 29, 7.30pm-11.30pm. Tickets available from Bill Sampson.
2008 Pageant
This year’s script takes a gallop through the history of Newbiggin to the present day.
The audience will meet early Christian pilgrims and other visitors from the past including foreign invaders, fisherfolk, Royalty, miners and ‘day-trippers’ alighting at the station with buckets and spades at the ready. Meanwhile our ‘Couple’ (Ebb & Flow) are bemused observers of all these events but are having trouble entertaining themselves……..
Flow: Let’s have a game of ‘I Spy’.
Ebb : No. I’m sick of ‘I Spy’.
Flow: Why?
Ebb: Everything begins with S— sun, seagull, sky, sea, sails ……..
Slick and sophisticated it isn’t— but it is great fun.
If you can spare a bit of time to help present this years event (and we need a cast of thousands), please contact Stan Green or the Vicar.

A Prayer Guide
Week beginning July 6th; 7th Sunday after Trinity
Lord of all power and might,
the author and giver of all good things:
graft in our hearts the love of your name,
increase in us true religion,
nourish us with all goodness,
and of your great mercy keep us in the same;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Gospel : Matthew 11 : 16-19, 25-30
.
Week beginning July 13th; 8th Sunday after Trinity
Almighty Lord and everlasting God,
we beseech you to direct, sanctify and govern
both our hearts and bodies
in the ways of your laws
and the works of your commandments;
that through your most mighty protection, both here and ever,
we may be preserved in body and soul;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Gospel : Matthew 13 : 1-9, 18-23
Week beginning July 20th; 9th Sunday after Trinity
Almighty God,
who sent your Holy Spirit
to be the life and light of your Church:
open our hearts to the riches of your grace,
that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit
in love and joy and peace;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Gospel : Matthew 13 : 24-30, 36-43
Week beginning July 27th; 10th Sunday after Trinity
Let your merciful ears, O Lord,
be open to the prayers of your humble servants;
and that they may obtain their petitions
make them to ask such things as shall please you;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Gospel : Matthew 13 : 31-33,44-52
Please also pray for those involved in this years Lambeth Cinference,
which begins at the end of the month.
The Lambeth Prayer:
Pour down upon us, O God,
the gifts of your Holy Spirit,
that those who prepare for the Lambeth Conference
may be filled with wisdom and understanding.
May they know at work within them
that creative energy and vision which belong to our humanity,
made in your image and redeemed by your love,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
