About St Bartholomew's Church
The very geographical location of St Bartholomew’s church Newbiggin by the Sea serves to keep us ever aware of Gods powerful gifts to us, whilst at the same time sharpening our awareness of our vulnerability, particularly in joining together on our doorstep the three elements of life i.e. the land, the sea and the sky.
The silhouette of the spire atop points us to the main three elements of Father Son and Holy Spirit.
Our eternal triangle.
St Bartholomew’s has long provided a stopping point and a refuge for travellers on their journey from Durham and Tynemouth to Alnmouth, Lindisfarne and the North.
We who worship at St Bartholomew’s would hope that our church would provide both a resting place for present disciples, and a starting point for future disciples and apostles of Christ or people who may be considering making the journey that will lead them closer towards God.
We at St Bartholomew’s view the collaborative working of the different denominations in Newbiggin as a means of expanding our vision of the kingdom of God.
With that vision before us we believe that whatever challenges face this community in the future can be met with those who travel in faith.
